During a 60 Minutes interview on Saturday, Nancy Pelosi harnessed her inner “Mean Girl” to slam Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) after Lesley Stahl asked about the Democratic Party’s fracturing, “You have these wings-AOC and her group on one side.” Pelosi to interrupt: “That’s like five people.” Stahl retorted that the Congressional Progressive Caucus has 98 members to which Pelosi responded, “Well, I’m progressive. I’m a progressive, yeah.” So what we have here are the Democrats trying to out-progressive each other. Meanwhile, the party’s base is moving unalterably to the Left to which Democratic presidential candidates are attempting to appeal. This puts the party in an uncomfortable position of having to move back to the center in a whiplash motion immediately after the Democratic convention in the summer of 2020. Good luck with that.
Here’s more from New York Post…
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi just sent some more shade to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
In a “60 Minutes” interview, correspondent Lesley Stahl pointed out the different groups within the House Democratic caucus. “You have these wings – AOC and her group on one side,” Stahl said.
“That’s like five people,” Pelosi interrupted.
Stahl corrected the snarky remark, saying that the “progressive group is more than five.”
“Well, I’m progressive – I’m a progressive, yeah,” Pelosi responded.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus has 98 members and is the second largest group of Democrats in the Congress. Ocasio-Cortez is one of the group’s most recognizable freshman members.
