Mexico Deploys Troops to Avoid Trump’s Tariff

After getting backed into a corner by President Trump’s threats of escalating tariffs, Mexico has finally decided to send the National Guard to its southern border with Guatemala to stop the influx of illegal aliens. That doesn’t mean Mexico wants to admit it, however. “I want to explain that this deployment will take place now because until two weeks ago, we were still discussing the laws to implement the National Guard,” Mexico ambassador to the U.S. Martha Barcena Coqui told CBS’ Face the Nation. According to a Reuters report, there could be as many as 6,000 Mexican National Guardsman. In short, Mexico insists Trump totally didn’t force them to do this [insert wink].

I want to explain that this deployment will take place now because until two weeks ago, we were still discussing the laws to implement the National Guard. So the deployment throughout the country has been- has already begun and it will increase next Monday. So we will see how the results of the deployment of the National Guard which by the way, is not similar to the National Guard of the US.
