Facebook Rebrands With Aim to Expand Its Power

Facebook’s “audit committee” has a new name: “the audit and risk oversight committee”, and there’s speculation that its new agenda is intended to avoid yet another data scandal (and to keep shareholders happy).

The new focus under the leadership of former President Clinton’s Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles includes: How the social media leviathon’s “services can be used to facilitate harm or undermine public safety or the public interest,” (think fake news) a full investigation of its “privacy program,” and an analysis of its “cybersecurity risk exposures.”

If a Cllintonista is guiding the PR policies of Facebook, not much good can come of it.

Along with a name change, the powers of the committee and the aspects of Facebook that the committee oversees were also expanded.
