DHS Releases 17K Illegals in 12 Days

The national emergency at the U.S-Mexico border is becoming more undeniable every day-even by the Left. The latest numbers from the U.S. Border Patrol reveals that more than 17,000 illegal immigrants were released into the U.S. interior in less than 12 days. Our overwhelmed border agents are being forced into Obama’s “catch and release” de facto because detention facilities are overwhelmed. Once released into the U.S. with a court date, most never show up for their asylum hearings let alone get deported. If this rate holds, DHS is on track to release half a million border crossers into the U.S. by year’s end. That, ladies and gentlemen, is a crisis.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is continuing its mass release of border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States, most recently releasing more than 17,000 migrants in less than two weeks.

According to newly obtained data by Breitbart News, DHS released about 17,065 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S. between March 21 and April 1, a mere 12-day period. Since December 21, 2018, DHS has released about 125,565 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the country.

The Catch and Release process often entails federal immigration officials busing border crossers into nearby border cities and dropping them off with the promise that they will show up for their immigration and asylum hearings, sometimes years later.

Gillibrand Wants to Give Social Security to Illegals

Democratic presidential hopeful Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) just announced her idea of acceptable “comprehensive immigration reform” during an Iowa campaign stop, and it includes Social Security benefits for illegal immigrants as well as a pathway to citizenship. Earlier this week, Gillibrand made headlines, arguing, “Immigration is not a security issue. It is an economic and a humanitarian and a family issue.” Current federal law stipulates that only legal residents are eligible for Social Security benefits if they pay into the program. Not a security question? We seem to remember certain immigration problems with student visas issued to individuals who flew some planes into American buildings nearly 18 years ago.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

During a campaign stop in Davenport, Iowa, presidential hopeful Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) said illegal immigrants in America should be allowed to receive social security benefits, along with a pathway to citizenship.

“First, we need comprehensive immigration reform,” the New York senator stated.

“If you are in this country now you must have the right to pay into Social Security, to pay your taxes, to pay into the local school system and to have a pathway to citizenship. That must happen,” Gillibrand said.

Gillibrand also faced scrutiny earlier this week over comments she made during an MSNBC town hall Monday when she said, “Immigration is not a security issue. It is an economic and a humanitarian and a family issue.”

Illegal Immigrants Overwhelm Border Patrol

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council is going straight to President Trump in a new letter confirming reports that border patrol agents are “overwhelmed” and unable to detain or arrest illegal immigrants. The ICE union explained that agents are resorting to “catch and release” to make room for the latest new illegal border crossers, and these individuals are being released into the U.S. interior due to deportation backlogs. The news is making waves ahead of what is expected to be a veto by President Trump of the Democrat-led “termination” of the emergency declaration.

Here’s more from Breitbart…

The National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council says agents are being “overwhelmed” by mass, unchecked illegal immigration to the United States.

In a letter to President Trump this week, the ICE union wrote that the Catch and Release program — whereby border crossers and illegal aliens are swiftly released into the interior of the U.S. after being detained — is in “overdrive,” as agents are forced to release illegal aliens en masse to make space for new border crossers who, likewise, will eventually be released.

The ICE union letter notes:

As you know, every day thousands of illegal aliens are being released into the United States by your Administration. ‘Catch and Release’ is not just happening, it’s in overdrive. Catch and release must continue as ICE doesn’t have sufficient custody space to hold the massive number of family units illegally entering the United States every day.

Schumer Defends His Border Wall Flip-Flip

In typical career politician fashion, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) defended his opposition against President Trump’s securing our Southern border with Mexico even though he himself supported the Secure Fence Act of 2006. Other notable “for” votes include the ballots of former Senators Hillary Clinton (D-NY), Barack Obama (D-IL), and Joe Biden (D-DE). The Secure Fence Act of 2006 called for physical barriers where possible and electronic or technology-driven capabilities where it was not. In short: Democrats are hypocritical when it serves them politically. In other words, it’s a Friday.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

WASHINGTON – Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) defended his vote in favor of the Secure Fence Act of 2006 and his opposition to President Trump’s proposed wall for open areas along the border.

In addition to Schumer, Democrats including former Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.), Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and Joe Biden (D-Del.) voted for the Secure Fence Act but the fencing that the bill called for was not fully completed. Trump, who originally called for a concrete wall that was blocked by Congress, says his current border security plan would install “see through” steel barriers at open portions of the border that currently lack fencing. According to the Border Patrol, drug smugglers and human traffickers have cut more than 1,700 holes in the fencing along the border in San Diego since 2015.

PJM asked Schumer, “You voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006. Will you support additional barriers on the border?” The Democratic leader replied, “No wall – didn’t have it then and doesn’t have it now.”

California Governor Pulls National Guard from Border

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) ordered 360 National Guard members to leave the state’s border with Mexico, calling President Trump’s national security crisis claims “political theater.” The LA Times broke the information after pulling it from Newsom’s State of the State address delivered Tuesday. According to Newsom’s speech, “The Border ’emergency’ is a manufactured crisis. This is our answer to the White House: No more division, xenophobia or nativism.” Newsom claims he wants to “refocus on the real threats facing our state.” Apparently, rampant drug running, human trafficking, and crime don’t rise to the level of “real threats.”

Here’s more from The Daily Wire…

On Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom will order 360 National Guard members to leave the state’s boundary with Mexico, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The Times quoted excerpts from Newsom’s State of the State address, which he will give on Tuesday, to illustrate Newsom’s hostility to President Trump. One excerpt reportedly calls the Trump administration’s claim of a national security crisis on the border “political theater.” Newsom will assert that he wants to “refocus on the real threats facing our state.”

Newsom is expected to shift the National Guard members to other duties, including wildfire prevention efforts and efforts to fight drugs and cartels across the state. 110 members are expected to work with the California Department of Forestry and Fire; 100 members will be transferred to intelligence operations against drug cartels. The Times added, “The governor’s office is separately requesting funding from the federal government to add at least 150 troops with the California National Guard’s Counterdrug Task Force, according to Nathan Click, a spokesman for the governor.”

Democrats Push Obama’s Illegal Immigrant Free For All

In June 2017, President Trump ended the Obama administration’s “American dream” giveaway for illegal immigrants, which bypassed detention and provided them with housing, transportation, healthcare, and even legal aid to claim asylum, but House Democrats want to bring back the program to reduce detainment numbers and the number of families returning to their home countries, reports the Washington Examiner. So far, the Left’s plan to revive the Family Case Management Program includes space for 100,000 illegal immigrants to the tune of $30 million for family case management and an additional $40 million for case managers. According to the libertarian CATO Institute, such programs cost about $18,000 per illegal immigrant.

Here’s more from Washington Examiner…

House Democrats are pushing hard to revive an Obama-era program that would keep illegal immigrant families out of detention and instead give them housing, transportation, healthcare, and legal aid to help them claim asylum in the U.S.

President Trump ended the Family Case Management Program in June 2017, citing excessive costs and the low rate of enrolled families returning to their home countries.

House Democrats want to bring it back to life in some form as part of an effort to reduce the detention of illegal immigrants and instead release them in the United States with some supervision. And they are hoping to negotiate that change in the ongoing border security talks between the two parties.

States Debate Helping Fund Trump’s Border Wall

Republicans in West Virginia, Arizona, South Dakota, and Montana are proposing legislation to help the federal government build President Donald Trump’s border wall to secure the U.S.-Mexico border, although the idea is getting swift resistance from both Democrats and Republicans alike. “I support President Trump’s border wall agenda,” argued West Virginia Republican Del. Ray Hollen, “but with that, I cannot support giving $10 million of West Virginia’s taxpayer money toward that, when we have our (own) obligations to take care of.” Fiscal concerns aside, there are constitutional issues regarding whether or not the states subject to such proposals are in fact allowed to make such “contributions” to the federal government. It’s an interesting question that may be moot come February 15.

Here’s more from PJ Media…

Republicans in four state legislatures are offering support to President Trump as he tries to get House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to support $5.7 billion in federal funding to build a border barrier where the U.S. and Mexico meet.

Three of the state proposals include millions of dollars to help Trump block the border with a barrier or a wall. The fourth offers moral support.

Montana Senate President Scott Sales (R) wants to give President Trump $8 million in state money to help construct a wall along the southern U.S. border.

Sales admitted sending $8 million to a $5.7 billion project is “a very small contribution,” and more “symbolic” than anything else. Still, Sales said, “Border security should be something that’s on the forefront of all legislatures whether they’re state or federal.”
